Review (5 Minutes)- Review page 11 in your workbook, "why are we going to be studying the book of 1 Peter?"
- Review your First Impressions that were written in page 14 of your workbook.
Introduction (5 Minutes)
- Read the “Objectives for this Study” (page 16)
- Read the “In This Study” (page 16)
Moving Forward- Read through 1 Peter 1:1-2.
- What words or phrases seemed to be key to passage? Allow for a brief discussion. Circle the words that the group mentioned.
- Read through Study 1 in your workbook and allow for discussion where it is appropriate.
- Peter addresses himself as an Apostle of Jesus Christ. What is an apostle and why would he include this?
- In what different ways does Peter identify the readers? What is implied with these names or identities?
- Identify the Triune God in these first two verses. Is there a reason why Peter mentions the Trinity in his opening words? What does Peter say is God’s role and what is ours?
- What key idea did Peter want the readers to understand by reading these 2 verses?
Apply - How will you take time each day to thank God for his unconditional love for you. His love was set upon you before you even knew him.
- Write a note of thanks to God.
