Getting Started

  1. Review 1 Peter 1:1—1:21 by putting it your own words. Use your charts as a storyboard to help you.
  2. Read the text on page 24, including “Objectives” and “In This Study”.

1 Peter 1:22-2:10

  1. Read 1 Peter 1:22—2:10
  2. What are the main words or ideas that stand out to you in this section of Scripture. Circle these words.
  3. Have several people share their new birth story.  “Where were you when you accepted Christ as Saviour?” If you think it would help, ask a couple people before you begin the study.
  4. Why does Peter mention the relationship offenses in 1 Peter 2:1?
  5. What can happen if we allow these offenses within our Christian Community / Church to take place?
  6. Talk about your current appetite for the Bible?  I would encourage you to be transparent?
  7. How are people’s appetite reflected in the Church?  What might it look like if a Church's appetite for the Bible is low?
  8. What does it mean for Christ to be the Living Stone?
  9. Survey the group for their gifts talents and experiences. Talk about how you fit together as living stones to carry out the purposes of King Jesus.

Closing off this Chapter. (Allow 15 Minutes)

  1. When you have concluded your discussion on this section, divide into groups of 4 to summarize this passage into a single phrase that captures the essence or truth of 1 Peter 1:22-2:10. As you did in the first section, choose a single word that will remind you of this passage and write it where it will be remembered.

  2. Complete the chart on page 9.
