1 Peter 1:22
New birth to the Apostle Peter was not a solo religious experience. God never intended our faith experience to be yours alone without any obligations and accountability. The day we embrace Christ as our Savior, we experience a new birth into the family of God. We become a new born baby into a God-community. As a member of this community we “love another deeply, from the heart” (1 Peter 1:22) when we obey the Word of God. When we shift our focus from ourselves to God, the evidence is our love for members of our family.
Are you alone in your faith? You are a member of a massive family. When we read the book of 1 Peter, you will notice several different relationships. The first relationship is God toward Man. 1 Peter 1:13 begins the relationship of Man toward God. As we come to 1 Peter 1:22 you will notice the first expectation of this new relationship, You toward other believers.
- Read through 1 Peter 1:1-22
- Notice the different relationships
- Examine yourself. Have you responded appropriately to your relationship with God and your brothers and sisters in the faith?
