Page 1 of 2 The Belief Statement
The Lord Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Triune God. He is coequal (John 10:30) and coeternal (John 8:58) with the Father. He was virgin born (Matthew 1:23) and totally without sin (Hebrews 4:15). Jesus is the one person with two natures, fully human (1 Timothy 2:5) and fully divine (Colossians 2:9).
Our sin requires the shedding of His blood at Calvary and that He eternally satisfied the wrath and demands of a holy God (1 John 2:2; 1 John 4:10). Jesus died as a substitute for sinful man (2 Corinthians 5:21). He died a vicarious, atoning death, so that we through faith might be restored to fellowship with God (Romans 5:8). The death of Christ is infinite in its worth and sufficient for all men (1 Timothy 2:6; Hebrews 2:9) and effectual to all that have believed and received Jesus Christ by faith.
Jesus Christ arose literally and bodily from the dead on the third day as verification of God’s approval of His sacrifice (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). He ascended bodily into heaven to be our great High Priest (Hebrews 7:25).
He is presently Head of the Church (Ephesians 4:22-23), is preparing a heavenly home for the saints and will return at the end of this age for the saints (John 14:1-3; Acts 1:11). I believe the Lord Jesus Christ is exalted to the right hand of God where, as High Priest to His people, He fulfills the ministry of intercession and advocacy (Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 3:1; Hebrews 7:23-25; 1 John 2:1-2).
At the time of incarnation, Jesus voluntarily veiled His glory and set aside the exercise of some of His divine attributes (Philippians 2:5-8).
