Prayer in Ephesians
Prayer in Ephesians (1)Within the book of Ephesians, Paul has lots to say on the topic of Prayer. Here are some gleanings from my Bible Readings If you went through any form of catechism as a child, you probably know the answer to the first question, “what is the basic need or purpose of man?” The answer is that we are to glorify our father in heaven – to bring praise and honour to God. In Ephesians 1:3-14, the phrase “to the praise of his glory” is mentioned four times. Everything we do should be bringing praise to God. When you pray, first ask, “How will this request bring praise to God?” When we pray we often just mention what we need or want. My grandson will come into our suite and just repeat the word "cookie" over and over again. To be honest, it's kind of irritating. I still love him but don't jump up and run to the cookie jar. Often, our prayers are just like that, we open the door of prayer and just start hollering our need. In Ephesians 1:15, it says, “For this reason…” the Apostle Paul says that because people had redirected their life purpose to bring praise to God, for this reason he could not stop “giving thanks to His Father.” Here’s the point: Your life design is to bring praise to God. We can do that through prayer.
